September 2021 Forecast

Posted in Forecasts.

My favourite colour is September

September sees Virgo lunations, Venus and Mars in each other’s signs, the Sun’s entrance into Libra and the beginning of a Mercury retrograde. Here’s a closer look at the month ahead:

Sept 2 – Mars opposition Neptune

The first few days of September can feel slightly icky—a bit stagnant or lacklustre. September 2 might get my vote for September’s stay in bed (i.e. play hooky) day. As I write this forecast (August 31), today, I had two no-shows which never happens to me. It turns out both clients got mixed up in their time zones. There’s a pink fog about people. If you have something important booked, triple check everything.

Sept 5 – Venus square Pluto

When Venus and Pluto get together, there is usually some intensity. With Venus currently in its domicile position of Libra, it’s pretty strong and can take most of what Pluto might have to dish out. Should the day feel a bit stormy from a relationship perspective, fear not. Venus has it under control for the most part.

Sept 6 – A busy day astrologically

Woah. Lots happening on good ol’ Labour Day! First off, Mars and Pluto make a powerful trine followed by a lovely Venus-Jupiter trine. Then, there’s a New Moon at 14 degrees of Virgo at 8:52 pm EDT followed shortly by the Sun’s exact trine to Uranus. While I wouldn’t advising starting anything new this day itself since most of the day will be spent closing things down in preparation for the New Moon that evening, it does feel like some lovely harmonious energy working in the background. Now, keep in mind that trines prompt us to… well, do nothing. Trines don’t really prompt or urge anything. They indicate ease and flow. So, perhaps this will just be a fairly harmonious day for us to officially shut down our summer vacations and turn our attentions to the New Day (kind of literally) ahead of us the following day when we will get a stronger sense of what a New Moon in Virgo can accomplish.

Sept 10 – Venus enters Scorpio

So, Venus kind of falls out of the ethereal sky from Libra and into the depths of hell in Scorpio today. Slight exaggeration? Maybe. It’s not that bad, is it? But we do move from one of Venus’s favourite placements to one of her least favourite placements today.

So when Venus last entered Aries, I told y’all to go play Miley Cyrus’s song “Bad Karma”. If you haven’t yet listened to it, do so now. It works so well for Venus in Scorpio placements as well. It’ll get you in the mood for this Venus in Scorpio season.

What can I say about Venus in Scorpio? Well, if you were born with this placement, you love intensely. You’re magnetic. You are usually all in or all out in a relationship. You expect loyalty whether or not you’re actually able to give it yourself. There’s a desire to be consumed by someone else. You often approach others in a suspicious way, thinking, what’s their motive? What do they want out of this situation? In your eyes, no one is just nice for nice sake. I’ve yet to meet a Venus in Scorpio who is able to truly forgive and forget when someone crosses them. They usually harbour resentments (which could be buried or secretive) for many years. Do you have Venus in Scorpio? Do you relate? How does it show up in your life?

Sept 14 – Mars in Libra

Some astrologers would say that Venus and Mars are in a mutual reception now with Mars’ shift into Libra. (A mutual reception occurs when two planets are in each other’s domicile—or home—placements.) Technically this is true, but this is not a helpful mutual reception. Both planets are currently in detriment (weakened) and there is no major aspect between Libra and Scorpio to provide any further connection or support between these two planets.

With Venus in Scorpio and Mars now in Libra, it feels kind of like the Dr. Seuss book “Wacky Wednesday”. Where we should be meeting conflict in a direct, precise manner, we are shirking away, and where we should be cooperating in relationships, we might be picking fights based on jealous suspicions. From that perspective, it’s not the best situation.

While pretty much all clients I’ve ever met who have Mars in Libra struggle in some capacity with direct assertion and conflict, they are so often gifted in practices such as yoga and meditation which I believe allows them to harness this peace-loving energy into a physical outlet. So, while Mars in Libra can suffer in many other circumstances, focusing on yoga or a similar practice could be an ideal use of this placement.

Sept 17 – Venus square Saturn

This is always kind of a meh day for interacting with others. Tension and strain is possible. It’s just not an easy sense of flow.

Sept 20 – Full Moon in Pisces (28 degrees) | Mercury trine Jupiter | Mercury in storm

Mercury enters its storm period today where it is moving less than forty minutes of arc a day. This storm period acts like a retrograde, and in fact, some people find that the storm period is even trickier than the retrograde period itself. The nice news is that Mercury makes a lovely trine to Jupiter today, so even if there are whispers of retrograde issues starting up, there’s a sense of optimism in the air. The second lunation of the month occurs just before 8 pm this evening—a Full Moon at 28 degrees of Pisces. As we plow ahead to the end of Virgo season, the bright light of this Pisces Moon is a reminder to indulge our sensitivity, our empathy and our creativity… to use the light of this beautiful Moon to give form (Virgo) to our ethereal (Pisces) visions.

Sept 22 – Sun enters Libra | Mercury square Pluto

The Sun enters Libra today kicking off Libra season. Let’s get the technicalities out of the way first: technically, the Sun is in fall in Libra. This means that the Sun is not at its best; it’s not permitted to shine its individual bright light in Libra. Why is that? Well, Libra has a habit of giving away its power to others. The sign is so focused on others, what others need, what they think, that it doesn’t step up in the way, say, a Leo would, when the Sun puts its spotlight on Leo. The thing is, shortly after Libra defers to others in its not-miss-a-beat way of deferring to others, it scolds itself for once again not just stepping up, into the spotlight, and speaking its own damn mind. But wait… what does it believe again?

Look, I come from a family with lots of Libra Suns. I grew up with Libra Sun friends from kindergarten to quite recently. As a Libra rising, I can’t help but connect with them. And I have a soft spot for them. But, I know the struggle. I see the struggle constantly. Now and then I’ll see an a-typical Libra Sun who comes across initially more Aries-like, but then I get to know them a bit more, and there it is, buried under that bravado—a need to be liked, to be appreciated, to be part of something, and an instinct to grab the spotlight shining momentarily on them and turn it on someone else. (But later be mad at themselves for doing that.)

Anyway, look Libras. We love you. We love your charm, your diplomacy and social graces. We love your ability to make others feel comfortable. We love your innate sense of beauty and balance. And we even love your indecisive, sitting-on-the-fence, eaten up by the thought of making the wrong decision episodes. It’s Libra season now, so how about you look into the camera, smile, hell, do a twirl, take a bow, and just let it happen. Stand in the spotlight alone.

Sept 23 – Venus opposition Uranus

There’s a slight sense of volatility today as Venus opposes Uranus. Sudden attractions, sudden hook-ups or break-ups or sudden purchases all might be good ideas or bad ideas. With the Moon also in Taurus, I say, put your credit card in the freezer, and look but don’t touch.

Sept 26 – Mercury retrograde

Our September Mercury retrograde has officially arrived. It will remain retrograde until October 18 and won’t be functioning normally again until at least October 23. You know the Mercury retrograde dos and don’ts. If you need a refresher, hop over to my Mercury retrograde page for a reminder.

Until October astro friends,

M
