As if Jupiter’s entrance into Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius wasn’t enough, July ends the month with a very important shift; on July 28, the Lunar Nodes leave the Pisces-Virgo axis and enter the Aquarius-Leo axis.
So what does this mean?
This is good news for our poor Pisces and Virgo friends (myself included) who have been getting hammered by life since early 2023 when Saturn entered Pisces. Like, enough karmic lessons already!
As a reminder, the Lunar Nodes aren’t planets, but mathematical points in the sky where the Moon’s orbit crosses the path of the Sun. Astrologically, they speak to themes of growth and release, both in our own lives and in the collective. The North Node points us toward new territory we are being encouraged to explore and develop, while the South Node represents familiar patterns and ways of operating that we may have outgrown or simply need to bring back into better balance.
For the past year and a half, the North Node in Pisces and South Node in Virgo have been asking us to stop trying to control, organize, analyze, and perfect absolutely everything. Virgo loves a plan, a list, and a solution, but this cycle has reminded us that not everything in life can be neatly managed or figured out. Pisces has been pulling us toward greater trust, intuition, creativity, compassion, and a willingness to go with the flow a little more. The lesson? Sometimes we need to stop picking everything apart, loosen our grip on the details, and trust that we don’t need to have all the answers right now.
As the North Node moves into Aquarius and the South Node into Leo, the focus shifts from the individual to the collective. Over the next 20 months, we’ll be asked to think beyond our own need for attention, recognition, or applause and consider how our unique talents can contribute to something bigger than ourselves. The South Node in Leo may expose some of the less flattering sides of our obsession with celebrity, ego, drama, and the need to be seen, while the North Node in Aquarius pulls us toward community, collaboration, innovation, and new ways of thinking about the future. This doesn’t mean dimming our light or losing what makes us special; it’s about asking how we can use that light in a way that benefits more than just ourselves. The Nodes will remain in Aquarius and Leo until March 26, 2028.
But Jupiter is also in Leo, right?
Yes! The fascinating thing is that, while the South Node travels in the sign of Leo, Jupiter will also be in Leo over the next year. The South Node reminds us that we’ve been here before; it’s familiar territory, and we shouldn’t get stuck here. But then Jupiter says: I want more of this and louder. We have this fascinating paradox where:
- Old talents can become highly visible;
- People step back into roles they’ve played before.
Jupiter connecting with the South Node is telling us that success or fame alone isn’t enough anymore.
The North Node in Aquarius (along with Pluto in Aquarius) asks us to move forward in collaboration and innovation, contributing something bigger than ourselves.
You can distill down this Nodal message into this: “How can your unique gifts (Leo) be used in service of the collective (Aquarius)?”
Shine brightly but don’t just make the light about you. Let your Leo gifts inspire and elevate a wider community.
July is such an important turning point this year as we shift from a service-oriented inner world to a creative and bold outer world. In my next blog post, I’ll discuss August’s Eclipses.
