Hi all,
I’ve been kind of avoiding making an official announcement, but with the amount of emails finding their way into my inbox, it wouldn’t be fair to continue to stay quiet.
As some regular clientele and students are aware, two months after we tragically lost my spry father-in-law, late last October I was diagnosed with colon cancer. It wasn’t a simple diagnosis; it’s been a long, jaw-dropping road to get to this point. I’ve had a colon resection (part of my bowel removed) and I am taking time to heal from this as well as properly address my nearly 12 year long battle with chronic pain from a car accident.
Folks, my soul is tired. I don’t know how else to explain it. Years of relentless back, shoulder and hip pain and extremely painful interventions like nerve blocks, cortisone shots and nerve ablations (among dozens upon dozens of other regular treatments) have epically worn me down, and I need some rest. The cancer was the straw that broke this camel’s back… specifically being told I was stage 4… but then, oh no, actually, it’s stage 1. Oops! Sorry to let you think you were dying and that you wouldn’t see your kids grow up. Now let’s throw in a kidney stone two days before your surgery, then pneumonia in December and appendicitis just last week. Seriously, what is happening? (Saturn is moving from my Sun now to my Moon, that’s what.)
I am suspending all client consults and teaching until at least the spring/summer 2024 at which point I will re-assess.
