Students have been asking me to teach Chart Rectification for years. I am delighted to finally offer this eight-week class on Natal Chart Rectification. I’ve been rectifying charts for fifteen years, and I’ve learned a thing or two from rectifying hundreds of charts over the years.
In this one-of-a-kind course, you’ll learn my methods for chart rectification. You’ll learn how to reverse-engineer a birth chart down to the minute (or even second because that’s how I roll) using transits, progressions, solar arcs and primary directions. We’ll look at a number of case studies, and at the end of the course, should you desire, your final assignment will be a chart rectification of a live volunteer. You’ll be able to ask this person questions about their life and put all of your newly acquired skills to the test (literally!). The final assignment will demonstrate your process for rectifying this individual’s chart and why you came up with the time you did.
The class runs live via Zoom Monday evenings from 7 – 8:30 pm Eastern time starting September 18, 2023. (Please note there will be no class on Oct 16, returning Oct 23 finishing November 13.) Each class will be recorded, and the recordings will be available to view for two weeks following the class.
To audit the course (no final assignment) the cost is $320 CAD. To submit the chart rectification assignment and have it count for CAAE accreditation, the cost is $390 CAD.
You should be at an intermediate level of astrology (minimum) to take this class. That is, you’ll need to have studied and be able to work with transits and progressions with ease. It’s not necessary to have worked extensively with directions.

As astrologers, we need to really be mindful of the birth times with which we are working. Astrologer Melanie Joy uses the birth time as a starting point that she routinely tests to ensure its accuracy. Being four minutes’ off from an ideal time of use means the Midheaven degree can change, and our predictions can be out a full year. If we want accurate output as astrologers, we need to have an accurate input. Melanie rectifies all her clients’ natal charts down to the second in order to ensure precision in natal chart delineation and forecasting techniques. In this workshop, Melanie introduces her chart rectification methods for clients with no birth time and even clients who provide a birth time.

Melanie will be presenting the chart interpretation methods of Jean Baptiste Morin de Villefranche. Morin was a 17th-century French astrologer, physician and mathematician who wrote a 26-book treatise on astrology and natural philosophy, Astrologia Gallica, that sets out a systematic and practical astrological approach. Morin intended the work to cull a reasoned and elegant system of horoscope interpretation from what he saw as a compromised Western astrological history. His approach is one of synthesis, that is, to see the natal chart as a unit. Melanie guarantees that you will never look at a natal chart the same way again after taking this workshop!
